One of the things I cherish most about my journey in photography are the connections, friendships and shared experiences I’ve had with other photographers. I’m not sure if it’s because we are like-minded, or if it’s the shared passion of photography and storytelling, but some of my very favorite people, in the history of ever, have entered my life through photography. Annie is one of those favorites! We first met in 2009 at a photography workshop in Tacoma (Thank you Me Ra Koh!) and I felt an immediate connection to her, and have always been so grateful for social media as we’ve followed each other’s journeys over the years….both in our business, and in the lives of our families.
Late last year, Annie and I connected again when she was talking about going through a rebranding process for her photography business (check out Annie’s beautiful work here!) and as part of this process, we started the conversation about having me capture a few head shots of her, but mainly, capturing more of WHO she is, to include images with her family that she treasures. I know it’s a common issue for so many of us….but getting yourself in the picture, when you always want to be the one taking them, is a challenge. And sometimes, there are moments in our lives that bring the importance of having these pictures to the forefront. I could hardly wait for the opportunity to capture these for my sweet friend.
We met at one of their favorite spots to go as a family….Golden Gardens Park. These five.….aren’t they the cutest??
If you follow my work, or know about my own children….you’ll know how these mother/daughter images have a special place in my heart.
Truly….I couldn’t get enough.
And we wanted to make sure to get a few behind-the-scenes with Annie capturing her family as well.
And we can’t forget about Dad…..
And seriously, this is one of my favorite “real” moments of our session!
And then sometimes, you just want to run and play in the sand and wind…
So many favorites…
Annie, thank you for asking and trusting me to capture these. This shoot was so special to me and I’m so glad we were able to make it happen – I adore every single one of you Graebners!! xo
