What a unique and awesome experience! After my posting about, and discussing the importance of capturing family and loved ones, my dear friend of many years contacted me to discuss an idea. Her parents would be celebrating 50 years of marriage in 2013, and would be celebrating by having the entire family gather in Fairbanks, Alaska before heading out for a family vacation to celebrate. After weeks and weeks of coordinating multiple schedules, time frames, and flights….we were actually able to make this happen!!
On an amazingly beautiful June morning, I flew from Seattle to Anchorage, and then up to Fairbanks, where I was met by my friends and walked out of the airport into 80+ degree sun and blue skies! For those familiar with Fairbanks….you’ll appreciate what a rare and short-lived opportunity this was. And ironically, presented new challenges with the bright sun being directly overhead. Thankfully, we were able to research and scout out some unique locations ahead of time….
The best part? As I’m taking pictures of the two of them, Merle asks …”Do I get to kiss her yet??” – this, my friends, is the sign of a successful marriage.
This family also grew up having a float plane, so we had to capture such an important part of their lives, and headed down to the float pond as well.
Fun family moments…
Merle & Judy…I was honored to be asked to capture such a milestone in your lives, and your wonderful family and moments together…wishing you a very Happy Anniversary & many more together!!
